I still remember when Billy Graham came to speak to our chapel at Wheaton College in 1979. His topic was "The Time is Short." He emphasized how quickly life passes.

And I think if you were to talk to him now, in the twilight of his life, he would probably say the same thing.

I got a fresh and surprising reminder of that today. I wanted to use the timer on my iphone. When I clicked on it, I discovered that it was still going from the last time I used it.

The timer was still flying along and when I stopped it, it read 981:03:17. That's 981 hours, or about 41 days!!

All that time, I had just been living my life, but this timer was tabulating the seconds that I can never get back. Wow.

I can't help asking the questions:

How did I live that time?

Did I live it to the fullest?

What would I have changed?

The time is shorter than we think. How are you redeeming it?
