Twelve years ago when I met Erin, I quickly learned what her friends knew well – she takes no prisoners when it comes to having fun. As an intern in Mexico, she snuck up behind me and smeared chocolate cake in my face.

Later, she became infamous in the office for her rubber band wars. And when I performed the wedding ceremony for Tim and her, when they turned to face me, their broad smiles revealed those ugly, snaggly, false teeth that they’d just put in so that only I could see (I almost maintained a straight face I’m happy to report).

But what I love most about Erin is her serious side. Perhaps because she excelled in athletics, she’s a coach’s dream, always seeking to grow. Whenever I invest in Erin, I know that she’s going to find a way to implement the advice. As head of Church Mobilization team, she’s grown into a good leader.

And despite the passage of years, she’s resisted settling into a comfort zone. This month, she and Tim and their son Colt will be selling everything they own and joining with a team of others who God is calling to learn what it means to be radical disciples together. They don’t know where God is sending them yet, but they are ready to serve God without holding back anything.

BTW, if you’re interested in joining a team like that, I can put you in touch with Erin and Tim.
