Continued from: How to be a disciple, Pt. 3

I was talking to a partner I’ll call "Joe" the other day in New Orleans. Joe’s boss had the same name as a man who was supposed to meet me in Cuba 11 years ago in order to guide me around for a week. When the guy never showed up, God did, and it began one of the most amazing weeks of ministry I’ve ever had.

I had two phone numbers and neither of my contacts were in, but through a series of God-orchestrated events, I preached to the largest church in Havana that night and a dozen or so people came to Christ.

After a few minutes of conversation, I realized that this was indeed the same man who was Joe’s boss. I reveled in the opportunity to needle Joe – how did this happen? “All I know,” he answered, “is that it is very important to us to be faithful partners.”

Well, all I know is that a faithful partner shows up. How can you trust one another if you’re not there when you say you’ll be there? A lot of people seek me out, but only a handful are faithful to follow thru once we’ve talked about how they would like to grow in their faith.

I’m 48 years-old now. Maybe I’ve got another 20 or so years of highly productive ministry. It’s simply good stewardship of that time to say, “I’m going to go with the goers.”

Promise me you’ll show up and give it your best shot, and I’ll help you grow.
