We all ask God questions. Here are my top four that humans ask:

1. Do you exist?

2. Are you good?

3. Do you care about me?

4. Can I trust you?

This last question is loaded. We struggle so much to trust God. Last weekend I preached a message at a church in South Carolina. After I had finished, I gave my listeners an opportunity to come up for prayer. The requests were heart-rending. Two people had multiple sclerosis. One child had Downs Syndrome and had just been diagnosed with leukemia. One woman had four different ailments, all of them severe. And there were many others - of course we prayed for the healing (the church had no oil for anointing - it was apparently more interested in appealing to "seekers" than in following James 5).

Where is a good God in the face of all that pain? These people were choosing to trust him. Their dreams weren't too big - just a measure of health.

In the midst of this needy world, there are those who dare to dream big dreams, to trust God in ways that defy logic. Given all the pain out there, it is somehow amazing to find people who will take God at his word and believe him for things that seem impossible. Sometimes I get to be such a person, but not nearly as frequently as I'd like. The fact is, God loves it when we trust him and actually is the one who gave us many of the dreams that seemed too big to ever do on our own.
