After the earthquake, people were trapped under buildings all around. One boy had his foot wedged under a wall. Carl tugged and tugged to get him loose before the aftershocks toppled the rest of the building. Finally, he succeeded in getting the boy free from the rubble.

That story and others haunt Carl to this day. Katie Rowland does an excellent job in this video of capturing what it must feel like for Carl.
